SLEEPFARERS                         1 | 2 | 3

“I often think that the night is more alive and more richly coloured than the day” Vincent Van Gogh.

Sleepfarers are individuals for whom the night offers engaging and varied opportunities - they choose to shrug off the constraints of a 9-5 lifestyle in search of the nocturnal.  Since the improvement of artificial lighting, night-time activity has contributed to the fabric of society and become a significant part of the economy of our cities.  While an increasing number of night workers toil, the British Medical Journal reports that almost 1 in 20 of us experience insomnia.

A central nighttime radio station transmitting to auxiliary towers acts as the catalyst for sleepfaring activity within the North & East of London. Sleepfarers become aware of the existence of the buildings through the viral nature of radio and begin to use the facilities available, subsequently promoting a night-time tribal identity.
